Carreker East Update 10-23-2025
Thursday, October 23, 2025
From: OSUPD Chief Michael Becker
We wanted to provide an update on the shooting that occurred on campus in the early
hours of Sunday, Oct. 19. Our thoughts and prayers are with our student who is recovering
in the hospital. It appears he was truly a victim in this senseless act.
At this time, the investigation indicates this shooting involved individuals from
Oklahoma City. Information indicates these individuals attended a party held at the
Payne County Expo Center before coming to campus after that party disbanded.
Upon arriving at the scene at Carreker East, officers immediately determined all parties
involved in the shooting had fled the scene.
Investigators were in Oklahoma City yesterday following up on leads, and a large amount
of evidence has been sent to the forensic crime lab at the Oklahoma State Bureau of
Investigation for processing.
Please understand that it will take time for results to come back from the crime lab.
We are working to create an air-tight case that will ensure that when suspects are
arrested, the thoroughness of the investigation will lead to conviction.
I want our students, faculty and staff to know that campus is safe. If you are worried
at any time, call us. We’re happy to do extra patrols, Safewalks or provide safety
information. We’re here for the campus community; don’t hesitate to reach out.
I also want to take this opportunity to commend our officers. They’re working around
the clock to build the case. I’m proud of their efforts and the collaboration between
the OSUPD and neighboring agencies, including the Stillwater Police Department, Payne
County Sheriff’s Office, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and others.
Again, if you have information but haven’t shared it yet, please do. Call the OSU
Police Department at 405-744-6523. You can also live chat with dispatchers using the Rave Guardian app. Rave Guardian provides the option for you to remain anonymous when submitting tips.
Also, if you have videos or photos that might be useful, you can upload them here.
