(Update) Charges were filed in Payne County District Court on Feb. 27, 2024 against an individual not affiliated with the university.
(UPDATE) 9 a.m. Feb. 23, 2024: The Stillwater Police Department arrested a non-university subject in connection with the case overnight.
On Friday, Feb. 16, 2024, at 2:19 a.m., the Stillwater Police Department (SPD) responded to a report of an alleged off-campus sexual assault near OSU Theta Pond, located at 1000 W. University. The victim, whose identity is being protected, reported that a young white male assailant approached her from behind, grabbed her, and groped her. The victim, fought off the assailant, who was last seen fleeing south from the area.
Evidence has been collected from the scene, and efforts are underway to obtain security footage from nearby residents and businesses. The case remains active and under investigation.
