OSUPD Investigating Scooter Thefts
Friday, January 16, 2026
The Oklahoma State University Police Department is investigating three electric scooter
thefts that have occurred since the beginning of the spring semester.
Scooters and bicycles should be secured with U-bolt locks whenever possible, though
even U-bolts don’t guarantee protection from theft. Serial numbers should also be
logged. Take care not to mistake the model number for the serial number.
The OSUPD provides an online Personal Asset Inventory under Quicklinks in my.okstate.edu. It allows students, faculty and staff on all OSU campuses to record the make, model,
serial number and a photograph (optional) of valuables. Having the information readily
available increases the possibility that the OSUPD can locate the item and return
it to its owner.
The OSUPD also has engravers available so you can put your student or employee ID
on your scooter, bicycle or other belongings. Should your item be stolen, your Banner
ID will be a clue to a pawn shop that the item belongs to an OSU student or employee.
Stop by 224 North Orchard — the northeast entrance of the USDA building on Farm Road — to borrow one.
Remember, if you see something, say something. Report any suspicious person or activity
to OSUPD at 405-744-6523, or chat with OSU 911 dispatchers through the Rave Guardian
app. Download the app here.
