Alcohol and Drug Awareness

The OSUPD provides alcohol and drug awareness training upon request.

  • The information focuses on laws surrounding public intoxication, DWI, DUI and the social host law. Drug and alcohol abuse programs are also conducted each semester by University Counseling Services and Residential Life.
  • OSU complies with the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act Amendments of 1989. This act requires the university certify it has adopted and implemented a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees in order to remain eligible for federal financial assistance.
  • As set forth in local, state, and federal laws, and the rules and regulations of the university, OSU prohibits the unlawful possession, use or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees in buildings, facilities, grounds, or other property owned and/or controlled by the OSU or as part of university activities. With limited exceptions, beer and alcohol are not allowed on campus.

Since July 1, 2000, students who are convicted of an offense involving the sale or possession of a controlled substance may become ineligible for federal student aid. For the university‘s complete drug and alcohol policy regarding the Drug-Free School and Communities Act, request the Oklahoma State University Student Rights and Responsibilities Governing Student Behavior, Oklahoma State University Drug and Alcohol Policy, or the OSU Dangers of Drugs and Alcohol Abuse pamphlets.
