about the Department of Public Safety
Oklahoma State University’s Department of Public Safety is dedicated to providing
a safe and secure environment for our campus community.
We strive to provide this environment by employing the highest professional standards
and providing exceptional service.
The Department of Public Safety’s vision is to lead in all areas of professional campus
law enforcement practices, to effectively address the safety and security needs of
the community and to uphold the university’s mission by supporting an environment
where diverse social, cultural and academic values are free to develop and prosper.
Department Breakdown
OSU’s Department of Public Safety consists of the following units:
- OSU Police Department
- Parking and Transportation Services
- Environmental Health and Safety
- Lake Carl Blackwell
Working together, these units have three primary roles:
- We protect our students, faculty and staff from harm and crime victimization, and we assist them and provide them with service that improves the quality of university life.
- We proactively identify safety and environmental hazards and partner with other campus departments in this reporting.
- We keep the peace, protect lives, reduce crime and enforce laws, all aimed at protecting the lives and property of our students, faculty, staff and university.
