About the Department
The Oklahoma State University Police Department protects the OSU-Stillwater campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year with more than 30 sworn officers, 12 support staff and more than 10 student employees covering the Stillwater campus plus Lake Carl Blackwell and agricultural research areas. The department includes the OSU-Tulsa division with another eight full-time officers providing round-the-clock coverage for that campus.
OSUPD is dedicated to providing a safe, protected and orderly environment for students, faculty and staff. The department offers a full range of police resources, including area patrols, criminal investigations, crime prevention, facilities security analysis, event planning and parking management. Department members serve on university and community committees, provide training and specialized presentations to campus organizations and living groups, participate in designing and installing safety and traffic control devices, and act as special advisors to campus departments and administration.
These professional police officers, full-time staff members and part-time employees all meet the high standards and fulfill the multidimensional mission of the Department of Public Safety. The OSU Police Department was the first agency accredited by the Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police Accreditation Program and has maintained that accreditation since 1998. Its most recent reaccreditation with OLEAP was earned with no errors noted, an almost unheard-of accomplishment.
OSU Police and public service officers provide a positive image to visitors and members of the campus community. Whether it is providing directions, parking information or a friendly welcome, our officers are caring and professional, intent upon creating a friendly community atmosphere. Enforcement includes using alternatives to arrest when reasonable and fully cooperating with administrative services and functions impacting student conduct. Our enforcement efforts are always geared toward providing a safer community.
For the OSU Police, service is a way of life. Our programs such as motorist assists, money transports and emergency notification services are part of our everyday services. The OSU Police encourages students, employees and visitors to use the Rave Guardian application, which offers direct access to the OSU Police and other services offered by the Department of Public Safety. OSU's blue phone system offers emergency assistance across campus. The Safe Walk program enhances public safety on the Stillwater campus, and anyone may request a trained student public service officer for a campus escort.
The OSU Police Department fully serves and protects our university community.
